Creating a cinematic consists of a number of steps:

Creating a Cinematic

Editor → Tools (Ribbon tab) → Cinematics (Ribbon bar)
How to create a new Cinematic:
  1. Open the list of Cinematics.
  2. At the bottom of the left panel, click on "Add Cinematic"
  3. A new cinematic will now have been added.

Creating a Key Point for a Cinematic

A Cinematic is composed of a number of Key Points, which define specific orientations of the camera as the Cinematic progresses. Multiple must be defined. The Cinematic will start at the first Key Point. The camera will then linearly move into the position of the second Key Point, and then the third, until the last Key Point has been reached.

Editor → Tools (Ribbon tab) → Cinematics (Ribbon bar) → The Cinematic to edit (Left panel)
How to create an individual Key Point for a Cinematic:
  1. Select the (newly created) Cinematic to edit.
  2. At the bottom of the left panel, click on "Add Key Point".
  3. Select the newly created Key Point.
  4. At the bottom of the right panel, click on "Edit Camera Position".
  5. Move the camera¹ into the desired position. Ensure both the position of the camera and the direction of the camera is as desired.
  6. At the bottom of the right panel, click on "Store Camera Position".
  7. At the bottom of the right panel, click on "Stop Editing Camera Position".
  8. Repeat the steps for as many Key Point are desired.

¹ While editing the camera position for a cinematic, you have more exact control over the camera. This also means the controls are different from moving the camera normally:

  • Moving the mouse while holding down both mouse buttons moves the camera up and down.
  • Moving the mouse while holding down the left mouse button moves the location the camera is directed at.
  • Moving the mouse while holding down the right mouse button moves the location of the camera itself.
  • Using the scrollwheel rotates the camera around its axis.

Configuring a Key Point in a cinematic

Triggering a cinematic

In most use-cases, a Cinematic should be triggered as the result of some occurrence during the session.

There are multiple situations in which a Cinematic can be displayed:
