The Underground visualization is used to visualize elements in the project which are located below the ground surface. A selection of elements currently visualized is:
- Subway system
- Tree roots
- Netlines
- Basements of buildings
- Sub-terranian storage facilities including hazard storage.
- Building foundations like piles (heipalen)
This is only a selection of available elements. The underground is currently being developed and more elements will be available in the future.
What is it used for?
In real life the underground contains a lot of infrastructure elements and building elements which can have an impact on visual planning. The Underground visualization can be used to visualize netlines which could potentially intersect with for example tree roots. By visualizing this the planner can choose to circumvent the roots or bury the netlines deeper. Another example can be the storage of hazardous materials and the planning of a new subway line which passes close by or intersects it. There are a lot of situations where the Underground plays a major role and visualizing this will greatly improve decision making about the project.
