The Heat Module of a Heat Overlay performs complex calculations and can generate multiple types of results per timeframe. A timeframe in the Heat Overlay correspond to a date and time for which a result will be calculated. This date and time will be relative to the project's time zone.

List of Result Types

Icon Result type Unit Display mode Description
Overlay icon heat bowen ratio.png
BOWEN_RATIO Date-Time The initial bowen ratio of buildings and terrain. Differs for water terrain based on day and night.
Overlay icon heat foliage.png
FOLIAGE m Start The initial and optional calculated foliage height, depending on the source of the foliage height.
Overlay icon heat pet.png
PET °C Date-Time The calculated physiological equivalent temperature.
Overlay icon heat pet.png
PET_RELATIVE °C Date-Time The calculated PET temperature subtracted by the calculated atmospheric temperature
Overlay icon heat shade.png
SHADE Date-Time Indicates whether a cell is in the shade or not based on sun ray calculations.
Overlay icon heat sky view.png
SKY_VIEW Start The calculated sky view factor.
Overlay icon heat sky view avg.png
SKY_VIEW_AVG Start The calculated average of individual calculated sky view factors.
Overlay icon heat temperature atmosphere.png
TEMPERATURE_ATMOSPHERE °C Date-Time The calculated atmospheric temperature, based on the UHI, sun motion factor and the measured temperature.
Overlay icon heat uhi max.png
UHI °C Date-Time The calculated urban heat island effect.
Overlay icon heat vegetation.png
VEGETATION Date-Time The fraction of vegetation per square meter.
Overlay icon heat vegetation avg.png
VEGETATION_AVG Date-Time The calculated average vegetation based on the cells' individual vegetation fraction.
Overlay icon heat wind speed.png
WIND_SPEED m/s Date-Time The wind speed calculated for the height of 1.2 meters above ground.

Result types can differ in the kind of data they display, the layer (surface or underground) of which they display that information, and how that data is recorded. Different result types can monitor data in the following ways:

  • Start: The data is determined at the start of the simulation, and does not change afterwards.
  • Date-Time: The data is dependent on the timestep, which corresponds to a date and time. In case the Average timeframe option is selected, the last timeframe will present the average values of all previous timesteps for that particular Result Type.
