For calculations regarding the availability and accessibility of certain objects, areas, or services, a Travel Distance Overlay can be used to calculate not just the linear distance but from which places such a feature can actually be reached within a journey of a given length. However, there can be great variety in all aspects of such a journey. To make it easier to configure this calculation, it's possible to make the Travel Distance Overlay reference calculated Grid Overlays indicating the destinations and potential routes.

How to create a flexible Travel Distance Overlay:
  1. Create a Combo Overlay to determine the destinations
  2. Create a Combo Overlay to determine the traversable routes
  3. Create a Travel Distance Overlay, and open its configuration wizard to set up the following configuration in only the following steps:
Step "Destination Grid": Select the destinations Overlay. Leave the threshold at 1
Step "Settings": Set the "max travel distance" to the allowed journey length (e.g. 300 if the result sohuld reflect a travel distance of 300 meters). Leave the "distance to road" at the default.
Step "Traversable Grid": Opt to select a Grid Overlay, and select the traversable routes Overlay. Leave the threshold at 1.
    Finish the configuration wizard.
  4. Recalculate if applicable
