Urban areas can be created using parametric design. Especially broad and general features can easily be created, with details added manually.

How to create an urban area using parametric design:
  1. Determine the area where an urban area is to be created.
  2. Manually create the network of roads for the urban environment as Constructions in the 3D world.
  3. Create a parametric design, configured with the Function most prevalent in the urban area.
  4. Draw the extent of the design over the desired area.
  5. Use the "road aligned" design type.
  6. Verify that the generated selections look appropriate, and apply the design.
  7. Manually select any Constructions which should be of a different Function, and change their Function.

Notes

  • It is only possible to create a single type of Function at a time when using parametric designs. If a greater variation is desired, parts of the result can either be edited, or removed so another parametric design can be applied in the same location.
