The Waterwijzer Overlay can provide insight into the loss of earnings in agrarian locations, due to hydrological conditions in the underground. By connecting it to other calculation models, specifically for their computed groundwater levels, it's possible to set up a dynamic model in which actions can directly influence the viability of crops, and thus the resulting expected earnings.
Adding subsidence calculations
To account for subsidence, and its effects on groundwater when using the Waterwijzer Overlay, make sure:
- The project has a configured Subsidence Overlay.
- The Subsidence Overlay has both a high ground water result type and a low ground water result type.
How to account for subsidence in the Waterwijzer Overlay:
- In the Editor, open the list of Overlays.
- In the left panel, select the Waterwijzer Overlay, and open its configuration wizard.
- Continue to the groundwater steps.
- In the step for low groundwater, opt to select an Overlay.
- Select the Subsidence Overlay's result for low ground water.
- In the step for high groundwater, opt to select an Overlay.
- Select the Subsidence Overlay's result for high ground water.
- Finish and close the wizard.
- If neccesary, recalculate the Overlay.
- The Waterwijzer Overlay now shows results.
Using groundwater calculations
To account for dynamically calculated groundwater flow when using the Waterwijzer Overlay, make sure:
- The project has a configured Water Overlay.
- The Water Overlay is set to fully simulate groundwater flow
- The Subsidence Overlay has a high ground water result type.
Notes
- To add both subsidence and groundwater flow calculations, first add subsidence to the Water Overlay, and then follow the steps for connecting the results of the Water Overlay to the Waterwijzer Overlay.
