Example of a (fictonal) Safety Distance Overlay

The Safety Distance Overlay is a grid overlay which shows a safety zone (buffer) around hazardous buildings. The locations of these dangerous functions are for example known from the Risk map dataset, used for creating the 3D model. The buffer size of this safety zone is defined for each function by their safety distance. 'Safe' functions have a safety distance of 0.

By default, the Overlay will display the unsafe zone around buildings as a spectrum from red to green, with the colors indicating the distance to the buildings around which the zone is defined. The color only indicates distance, and not degree of safety. If the overlay does not display any such zones or distances, the most likely cause is that there are no unsafe buildings in the project.

When clicking on a specific location on the map, the hover panel gives information about distance from the hazardous building to the clicked location.

In the function values table, each function has a safety distance value. This value can be changed by the user.
